ASUS ROG Strix Evolve

Slide to victory with ASUS ROG’s latest ambidextrous and modular mouse.

People have been gaming on their computers for years, and while gaming on computers you’ll definitely have to use a keyboard, mouse or controller. Gaming peripherals have high traction among gamers, as it gives them the advantage they need to beat their opponents. For any shooter genre, the mouse is the most important tool and it’s not surprising that mice are the first thing that comes to mind when you hear about gaming peripherals.

The ASUS ROG Strix Evolve is an ambidextrous mouse, but what makes it special is its ability to swap the mice’s configuration to increase comfort for left and right handed use. For example you can simply snap off the plastic and attach the provided mod parts and you’ll have the perfect fit according to your tastes. This gives the ROG Strix Evolve a free form design that fits the needs of many gamers.

The ROG Strix Evolve comes with a total of eight buttons, left-right-middleback-forward, DPI toggle and an additional two programmable buttons. The two programmable buttons near the thumb are easy to reach, but the buttons on the right would take some getting used to. The buttons use Omron switches and are rated to last at least 50 million clicks. Each click felt great during our testing period and we can foresee the mouse lasting a long time.

The mouse sports a 2-level DPI switch that allows you to switch between your DPI settings, and with a maximum of 7,200 DPI you can have blazing fast mouse speeds. In addition, the mouse’s polling rate is 1000Hz, so tracking is fast and accurate during gameplay. Gaming with the ROG Strix Evolve is excellent, as the rubber feet glides across any surface smoothly, but feels best when used on a cloth type mousepad. With the increasing popularity of RGB on peripherals ASUS has also jumped on the bandwagon with customisable lighting effects that works together with ASUS’ Aura RGB lighting technology.
